Writer Dennis Potter. He wrote "Pennies from Heaven," and "The Singing Detective," both on PBS, originally from the BBC. He also wrote the screenplay for the American film adaptation of "Pennies from Heaven," which starred Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters. A retrospective of his work is showing in New York.
